NOW 18 SPECTACULAR HOLES
9 More Reasons To Visit Sun Peaks This Summer
With the opening of the new back nine this summer, the Sun Peaks Golf Course will offer 9 new ways to challenge golfers of every ability level. Surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, the new back nine is a spectacular contrast to the challenging front nine and will reward the long-ball hitter.
The opening of the full Graham Cooke designed 18-hole course also marks another important milestone as Sun Peaks continues to transform itself into an all season destination resort. The completion of the golf course, combined with the wide range of other recreational activities available and all anchored by an award winning pedestrian village, make Sun Peaks the only true destination resort in the BC interior.

Working in the Rough the Operational Challenges of Canadas Highest Course
If you think playing the Sun Peaks Resort golf course can be challenging, take a swing at laying out a course in such a unique mountain environment, or running the day-to-day operations each season.
Keith Lyall, superintendent for the mountain course says for starters, at over 4,000 feet, Sun Peaks is the highest resort course in Canada. While the higher elevation benefits players (as golf balls travel farther than at sea level), it also means a shorter growing season. The elevation also creates some unique microclimates that often mean the greens are growing while still covered in snow! The grounds crew sometimes uses winter grooming machines and snowmobiles to remove snow and position green cutting equipment prior to opening each season!
Course designer Graham Cooke and the local Sun Peaks crew spent 10 years perfecting the drainage system due to the prevalence of water in an alpine setting such as Sun Peaks. The team also took care to locate greens in such a way as to maximize the amount of direct sunlight over the shorter growing season.
